A few days ago I compiled a list of EdTech tools that can help you create interactive and media rich lessons. Today's post features another equally helpful tool to be added to this list. BookWidgets provides you with the tools to both add interactivity to your lessons and decrease your paperwork.

The way BookWidgets work is simple. After you create your account, sign in and in the left side bar click on 'Widgets' ➤ 'Create new widget' to start creating a digital activity. There are over 40 digital activities and exercises templates to choose from including: quiz, exit slip, flash cards, timeline , split worksheet, worksheet, whiteboard, webquest, and many more. Click on the activity you want to open its widget editor. Every activity has its own unique editor. Use the editor to add in your data. Once done click on Preview to see how the activity will appear for students.
Students responses are automatically corrected. They can "immediately see how they did, which is great for formative assessment. For summative assessment, you can choose not to instantly show feedback." When your widget is ready click to share with your students using a generated link. Anyone with the link can play the widget. You can also share the widget directly to other apps you use with your students such as Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, Showbie, among others. Students responses are collected in your BookWidget account under the category Student Work. From there you can grade and give feedback to your students.
BookWidgets allows you to "monitor your students’ progress in real-time while they’re working on BookWidgets assignments, at home or in your classroom.Immediately discover students that need extra challenges, help struggling students, play live games, take real-time surveys, and much more!"
Another helpful feature from BookWidgets is 'My Groups' which allows you to create a group or join existing groups to share your widgets with other teachers and collaborators. You can also search what other teachers have createh on BookWidgets and use their widgets as a source of inspiration to guide you in your own work.
