G Suite released a number of interesting new updates last month. Some of these updates are directly relevant to us as teachers and educators. Below is a quick overview of the new features you may want to check out. To learn more about all the G Suite launches from May, check out this document.
1- Smart Reply in Gmail
Smart Reply, available in Inbox by Gmail and Allo, saves you time by suggesting quick responses to your messages. The feature already drives 12 percent of replies in Inbox on mobile. And with this launch, Smart Reply is now available in Gmail for Android and iOS too. Smart Reply suggests three responses based on the email you received
2- Group items vertically in the new Google Sites
Google Sites has included a new feature that allows you ‘ to create “vertical groups” in the new Sites on the web. Once created, you can move and edit these groups as a single entity, as well as drag items in and out of them easily. ’
3- Quick Access in Google Drive Now Available on The Web
Quick Access, which was first introduced last September on Drive Android and iOS app, is a feature that uses machine learning to intelligently predict files you might need. ‘Quick Access intelligently predicts and surfaces files based on, among other things:
who specific files are frequently shared with
when relevant meetings occur
what files are used at specific times of the day.’
