Teachers may sometimes feel overwhelmed by the multitude of resources available online. In fact, it can take a tremendous amount of time to sift through and locate required materials to use in your teaching, a taxing task for the already overburdened teacher.

To this end, and to help teachers make better use of their time and resources I curated for you this collection of educational resources where you can access educational content to use in your own instruction.

From ready-made lesson plans and study guides to practice exercises and EdTech tools, the websites below provide you with the resources you need to enhance your teaching/learning and grow professionally. 


1- Khan Academy

Khan Academy provides free educational content in the form of instructional videos and practice exercises covering different subjects including math, chemistry, physics, science, arts, humanities and many more.


2- Smithsonian Learning Lab

Smithsonian Learning Lab empowers learners with materials and tools to help them personalize their learning, create new ideas, find resources and access collections of educational content and build meaningful educational networks.


3- Discovery Education

Discovery Education provides tons of standards-aligned resources, tools to enhance students thinking skills, and opportunities for collaborative learning experiences to help teachers grow their professional practice.

4- TED Ed

TED Ed is an education initiative from TED to help teachers, educators, and students access and create interactive video lessons. It is also a tool similar to Edpuzzle and PlayPosit to use to add questions and interactive features to videos.


5- MOOCs

There are several MOOC (massive open online courses)platforms where you can access a wide range of courses covering different topics across different platforms. You can actually learn anything you want and right from the comfort of your own couch. Some of the best MOOC platforms include: Coursera, Class Central, Udacity, EdX, and Udemy.


6. Lesson Plan Templates

Lesson planning is an essential part of our work as teachers and educators. It is our private lab where we put to work our knowledge of pedagogy, methodology, and learning to create instructional plans that facilitate knowledge construction in our classrooms.

I have tried each of these platforms and found them worth the mention here. If you are a bibliophile like me and enjoy reading books or listening to audiobooks then you definitely need to keep this list handy.


12- Library sites

Some of the best library sites where teachers can access a wide variety of reading materials include:

  • Project Gutenberg: Offers free epub and Kindle eBooks to download or read online.
  • LibriVox: Offers public domain audiobooks that you can listen to anywhere and on any device
  • Open Library: Access and read millions of free books including textbooks, works of literature, classics, and more. The site also includes a k-12 student library hosting student friendly materials.


13- Google Arts & Culture

Google Arts & Culture gathers human knowledge from over 2000 cultural institutions around the world into a single easily navigable platform that anyone can access and explore for free. 

Take students on virtual field trips to museums from all around the globe, visit art exhibits, explore art masterpieces, explore iconic historical sites, draw on the power of AR to uncover hidden gems, explore pocket galleries, and many more.

Google Arts & Culture now features a collection of interesting games to teach students cultural literacy. These games include: visual crosswords, puzzle party, what came first, and more.


14- Teachers Pay Teachers

Teachers Pay Teachers is an online marketplace where teachers buy and sell educational materials. It is a great platform for both buying and selling resources, allowing teachers to create original materials or find existing ones.


15- National Geographic Education

National Geographic Education is a great resource for teachers looking for engaging and interactive content to bring their lessons alive. It provides access to maps, videos, photos and other educational materials featuring stories of exploration and research in science, geography and more.


16- PBS LearningMedia

PBS LearningMedia is a great resource for teachers looking for engaging, interactive content to bring their lessons alive. It offers access to thousands of videos, photos and audio clips from the world’s leading producers of educational media.


17- BrainPOP

BrainPOP is an online learning platform that provides animated educational videos and activities to students of all ages. It covers a wide range of topics, including math, science, English, social studies and health. 


18. Classtools.net

Classtools.net is a great resource for teachers to create engaging activities and lessons. It provides access to a range of interactive tools, such as games, quizzes, polls and surveys that can be used in the classroom.


19. ABCya

ABCya is a website that provides free learning games for kids in grades Pre K through 6. ABCya learning Games are organized by grade and subject area and cover a wide array of topics including math, typing, literacy, pattern recognition, word formation, and more.

Kids can play ABCYa for free, however, the free version supports ads and some of these ads can be annoying. The premium version is ad-free. Kids can play games using their keyboard or mouse (not the best option for kids with hand mobility issues!).

This is a collection that offers teachers access to a wide variety of preschool learning websites and educational resources for specifically designed for kids. These websites offer fun and educational activities for kids of all ages. From interactive games and puzzles to videos and step-by-step guides, kids will enjoy their learning while having fun!

In this collection I featured some amazing and fun science experiments for kids. From creating a volcanic eruption to making slime, these science experiments for kids teach important scientific concepts in an entertaining and interactive way including concepts like engineering, aerodynamics, chemical reactions, Newton's laws of motion, buoyancy, polymers, sound waves, and more.
