Capzles is an excellent web tool for creating visually interactive rich-media timelines using a number of materials including: videos, photos, text, audio, music and many more. You can use this tool with students in class to create timelines on various educational topics (e,g history and science projects). Capzles can be a great way for students to create digital portfolios and display their work. It can also be used for digital storytelling where students can experiment with different multimedia storylines. There are in fact endless possibilities to use Capzles in your instruction.
Capzles is free to use and is all web-based. However, students will need to sign up using an email address. Once registered, they will be access to Capzles timeline creator and they will also have their own personal space where they can save their timelines and bookmark timelines others have created. Capzles is very simple and easy to use. To create a timeline, click on ‘Create’ button to access the editor. Once there, use the tools on the left-hand side to add content and customize it the way you want.
