7 Excellent Story Builder Tools for Students

Amazon has recently introduced a new tool called Amazon Story Builder and upon checking it, it reminded me of some other similar tools I have reveiwed in the past and which students can use to plan,build, and share their stories,  Check out the list below and let us know what you think of these story builder tools. 1- Amazon Storybuilder

Amazon Storybuilder is a cloud-based writing tool from Amazon Studios that can be used to create stories . Amazon Storybuilder uses “notecards” to represent a single beat or event in a story, just as screenwriters have for years used actual physical notecards to represent story beats on corkboards around the world. Storybuilder notecards can include both text and images. You can string individual cards together into a sequence on a virtual “corkboard” to convey a narrative and tell your story. Unlike physical notecards, it is easy to share Storybuilder projects and it is easy to take them wherever you go with your laptop, phone, tablet or Kindle.
2- Storyboard Creator

Storyboard Creator is a tool provided by the popular  Storyboard That . This tool lets nearly any idea, concept or story be expressed in just a few cells of a storyboard. it also has a search repository that features hundreds of default images and over 45,000 images.

3- Storyboard Generator


Storyboard Generator allows you to choose a script and create a storyboard. You can start building your own storyboard using background location photographs. Once done, you can save and share your storyboard video with friends. Remember to register with Generator first if you would like to save your storyboard.

4- Storybird

Storybird lets anyone make visual stories in seconds. Storybird  curates artwork from illustrators and animators around the world and inspire writers of any age to turn those images into fresh stories.

5- Story Map

The Story Map interactive includes a set of graphic organizers designed to assist teachers and students in prewriting and postreading activities. The organizers are intended to focus on the key elements of character, setting, conflict, and resolution development. Students can develop multiple characters, for example, in preparation for writing their own fiction, or they may reflect on and further develop characters from stories they have read. After completing individual sections or the entire organizer, students have the ability to print out their final versions for feedback and assessment. The versatility of this tool allows it to be used in multiple contexts.

6- Zimmer Twins


The Zimmer Twins is a site devoted to kids and creative storytelling. The Zimmer Twins website invites kids to create and share their own animated stories.

7- Zooburst

ZooBurst is a digital storytelling tool that lets anyone easily create his or her own 3D pop-up books. Using ZooBurst, storytellers of any age can create their own rich worlds in which their stories can come to life.
