A Wonderful Visual on Common Core Standards for Teachers and Students

Common Core State Standards are a shared set of rigorous benchmarked standards developed at the sate level to prepare students to compete and succeed in the work place. The success will be evaluated through two kinds of assessment:

Formative assessment : It takes place throughout the school year and its aim is to track students progress and inform instruction.

Summative assessment : This one takes place at the end of the school year and aims at measuring students overall achievement compared to peer group norms.
